Manager MS&T Lab DP (f/m/d)
Take the lead in a pivotal and cross-functional role at the cutting edge of vaccine process development. Drive innovation, streamline biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes, and shape the future of Takeda’s global dengue vaccine operations. This is a unique opportunity to establish and run a state-of-the-art laboratory to drive interdepartmental improvements and make a lasting impact.
Responsibilities:
- Build, lead, and manage the MS&T Drug Product Lab Team, overseeing activities and experiments related to formulation, filling, and lyophilization, both in small-scale setups and an automated pilot line
- Collaborate proactively with teams across MS&T DP&DS, CMC, QA, QC, regulatory, and manufacturing to design, plan, execute, and report experiments, confirmation runs, and troubleshooting efforts
- Lead initiatives for process improvements, lifecycle management and support tech transfer activities within Takeda’s global vaccine drug product manufacturing network
- Establish and grow expertise within the team to enhance process understanding, facilitate efficient problem-solving, and support process characterization
- Take an entrepreneurial approach to set up and operate the Drug Product Lab, ensuring alignment with the Vaccines Business Unit’s needs and fostering a transformation-driven team culture
- Drive the efficient utilization of lab assets with a continuous improvement mindset, balancing agile troubleshooting support with strategic long-term process enhancement
- Regularly review and adapt quality standards in the lab to meet the evolving needs of experiments and operations
In this position you will report to the Director MS&T Lab.
What you bring to Takeda:
- MSc with 10+ years of experience in vaccines or biologics drug product process development, MS&T Labs or start-ups, including multiple years of conceptual design, execution and evaluation of complex lab experiments
- Strong technical knowledge in formulation, aseptic filling, isolator technology, lyophilization, and single-use materials
- Proven expertise in process development with background in tech transfer, and sustaining cGMP Drug Product manufacturing
- 5+ years of leadership experience, including developing and mentoring technical teams
- Experience with vaccines, particularly live viruses, is a plus
- Strong communicator with a track record of leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects
- Organized, detail-oriented, and skilled in risk identification, issue resolution, and time/project management
- Hands-on approach to lab activities and fluent in both German and English
