OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE:

With that in mind, this role will help further Takeda’ssustained growth to:

  • Ensure ESG data disclosure transparent, assured, reliable at an enterprise-level

  • Provide Dx solution for ESG data for automation and assurance

  • Make interactive connections and engagement with internal/external ESG stakeholders 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

1.ESG Index management

  • Submit surveys on time for Indices which Takeda reply to through a year

  • Engage relevant SMEs to request disclosure of necessary Metrics to be publicly available

  • Analyze result and draft the report to necessary executives

  • Explore digital transformation for ESG index and data 

2.General ESG data assurance management

  • Prepare the draft of RFP (Request for proposal) for third party assurance partner 

  • Engage internal SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) to deal with assurance firm and be sure to keep SMEs on schedule 

  • Update sustainability disclosure on Takeda.com yearly-basis

  • Update assured general ESG Metrics and two frameworks ( SASB (Sustainability Accounting Standards Board) and WEF (World Economic Forum) Core Index ) content on  
    Sustainability Disclosure page to meet needs of indices, stakeholders and investors.

3.IR engagement and interactions

  • Prepare and support ESG Sustainability answers for IR meetings working closely with IR team

  • Maintain common ESG Q&As to be updated with additional Q&As working closely with IR team

  • Bring outside-in perspective of ESG into the organization by hearing investors’ feedback 

4.Team OPEX control

  • Understand team’s project and keep track of budget every month working closely with CoS team

  • Support the control and submission MYC (Mid-Year Commitment) /MRP (Middle-Range Planning) commitment from sustainability team to GCA (Global Corporate Affairs BU)

5.Japan-based employee engagement

  • Be responsible forJapan-based employee engagement programas across functional team

  • Engage and motivate engagement group to understand sustainability approach at Takeda

CORE ELEMENTS RELATED TO THIS ROLE: 

  • Strong ESG data management

1.Shouldhavea strong understanding of ESG data and be able to effectivelycollect, analyze, and interpretit. Thisinvolvesidentifyingrelevant ESG metrics, ensuring data accuracy and integrity, and implementingrobust data management systems.

2.Effective partnership and communicationwith SMEs: EngageSMEs, who handle all imperative-relatedmetrics and operations in differentfunctionsat an global-level

3.Reporting and Disclosure: Transparent reporting and disclosure of ESG performance iscrucial for building trust and credibility. A manager shouldplay a criticalrolesupportingaccurate and timely reporting, following recognized frameworkssuchasWEF and Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB)wehaveengagedatam company-level.

  • Stakeholders’ management and value creation 

1.Engage with various stakeholders, suchasintuitionalinvestors, employees, customers, iscrucial for effective ESG management. A manager shouldsupport strategies to communicate ESG initiatives, addressconcerns, and build strong relationships with stakeholders.

2.Focus on creating long-termvaluethrough ESG initiatives. Thisincludesidentifyingopportunities for innovation, cost savings, and revenue generation thatalign with sustainability goals.

  • Flexibility and agility on continuous improvement of ESG data 

1.Capable of understandingESG data expectationand itsrequirements, whichisstillevolvinggiven ESG world outside. Need capability to catch outside 2.ESG perspective andsupport deliveringright insights and key takek aways to Takeda’ssustainability strategy

ESG management is an ongoingprocess, and a manager shouldcontinuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of ESG initiatives. Thisinvolvesconducting regular assessments, benchmarking againstindustrypeers, and implementingimprovementsbased on feedback and lessonslearned.

3.Be open and exploredigitalsolutioninto ESG data management for accuracy and transparency. The data should be assured by the third party, whichrequireall the data to be documented and repeatable for assurance

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

6.Business level of Japanese and English both in writing and speaking

7.Global work experience is a plus

8.7-10 years in business operations. Pharmaceutical industry experience and ESG/Sustainability experience are plus

9.Bachelor’s (or Graduate preferred) degree in Sciences,  Business, Sustainability, or other relevant areas.
