Job Description

The Process Engineering team in Round Lake, IL supports the supply of life saving therapies by ensuring the efficient operation of manufacturing while improving process functionality. Our team is responsible for all processes applicable to the aseptic filling of sterile injectable IV bags. We evaluate, provide recommendations, and implement manufacturing process improvements in areas of filling, visual inspection, and packaging. Our expertise drives innovation, quality and availability biologic products to our patients.

The Process Engineering Intern will support initiatives crucial to modernizing the existing IV bag filling process. This role will make multiple contributions to the team on site and ultimately to our patients through full ownership of near-term deliverables and through delivering needed engineering horsepower to ongoing projects that are in critical phases.


How You Will Contribute:

In this role, you will:

  • Interpret design documentation for our novel SFS bag filling process to codify and generate Process Flow Diagrams.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop "process instructions" as first step in better defining Critical Process Parameters associated Critical Quality Attributes.

  • Support Risk Register tasks and gap assessments with focus on engineering changes to mitigate risks and align site filling processes with industry standards and regulatory expectations.

  • Contribute to small and large CapEx projects with input to technical aspects such as writing URS and commissioning documents as well as project management aspects such as budgeting, scheduling, and providing updates to leadership.

  • This role will provide valuable experience in principles of how technology and manufacturing processes are deployed in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. Additionally, exposure to fundamental business processes will offer timeless insight into how pharma and other regulated organizations operate. You can work on impactful projects contributing to our mission of driving innovation and improving operational performance. You can gain hands-on experience. The internship provides a unique opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world projects in the biotechnology industry, bridging the gap between academic learning and industry practices. Additionally, the intern will build valuable industry connections and receive mentorship from experienced professionals, setting the stage for future career opportunities in data engineering and biotechnology

Job Requirements:

  • This position will be Fully Onsite and require 4+ days in the Libertyville, IL or Round Lake, IL office per week.

  • Must be pursuing a Degree in Engineering discipline

  • Interest or focus in pharmaceutical / biotech industry

  • Highly reliable, motivated, and able to contribute results with high degree of independence

  • Experience working hands-on with electro-mechanical processes of any type

  • Technical writing proficiency with attention to detail

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Internship Eligibility

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship

  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2025 or later

  • The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (June 2nd- August 22nd) or (June 16th - August 29th)

    • The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames

  • Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates

  • Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

U.S. Hourly Wage Range:

$21.00 - $46.00

The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of internship.The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. internship benefits vary by location and may include:

  • Paid sick time
