Job Description

About the role:

Reporting to the Engineering Site Head, this role aims to improve equipment reliability and ensure safety through the development and implementation of maintenance plans. By leading a team of engineers and technicians, you contribute to Takeda's mission by optimizing manufacturing processes and ensuring operational efficiency.

How you will contribute:

As part of Engineering, you manage a group of automation engineers and specialists to provide support for our clients (Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Validation, Quality, …). You also act as Automation Engineer for Business Owner responsibilities.

  • Ensure the necessary and competent resources for the follow-up of the operational tasks of the production site.
  • Deliver technical solutions that are appropriate while meeting user requirements that are economically sound.
  • Plan and monitor resources with own team and key-stakeholder across operational and projects imperatives.
  • Escalate the need for additional support whenever required to maintain and distribute the workload, including during project execution.
  • Report strategic program metrics and Automation CapEx performance updates to stakeholders and regional/global leads.
  • Bring engineering expertise to ensure project schedules and financial goals while achieving technical success.
  • Allocate the necessary resources for the realization of projects related to the Automation activities.
  • Monitors and ensures timely implementation of changes within Change Control responsibilities.
  • Guarantee and report reliable and concrete information to Management.
  • Represent the Automation department at global function initiatives and ensure good communication, collaboration and adoption of best practices.
  • Collaborate efficiently with our various external partners (consultants, suppliers, etc.).
  • Support the group on technical and managerial aspect of automation and specialized information systems, including at the Community of Practice level.

What you bring to Takeda:

  • Master's degree in engineering from a university or polytechnic (automation, electrical, electronics, mechatronics, etc.). Additional formal education in management constitutes an advantage.
  • Knowledge and experience of working in a highly regulated environment (cGxP).
  • Subject matter expertise in various automation equipment and related industry standards (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, GE).
  • Effective team leadership, setting objectives and guiding team members to achieve goals.
  • Advanced automation techniques to enhance manufacturing processes.
  • Management of engineering changes with precision, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Stakeholder management, addressing challenges and ensuring alignment with operational goals.
  • Process optimization through innovative application of automation technologies.
  • Fluent in both French and English. Knowledge of other languages (German, Italian) constitute an advantage.

Important Considerations:

At Takeda, our patients rely on us to create quality products and we aim to create a safe environment for our team members. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product or putting anyone at the site in harm's way. In this role, you may:

  • Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.
  • Need to remove all make-up, jewellery, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
  • Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours, as necessary.
  • Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers that may require respiratory protection.
