Job Description

About the role:

Takeda operates the Los Angeles Site which performs fractionation and purification of human plasma to safely produce quality therapies that save and sustain lives. To maintain a reliable supply of therapies for patients, Takeda manages projects to improve manufacturing and auxiliary processes on a continuous basis. These projects are managed and executed locally at the Los Angeles Site by the Capital Engineering team.

As a Sr. Capital Project Manager II, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the planning, implementation, and execution of small and large capital projects within our organization. These projects typical include facility and process improvements, equipment replacement/upgrades, quality compliance, safety improvements, and large strategic/capacity increase type projects. Many of these projects are typically >$1M USD in value. You will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards. This position is an individual contributor role; however, requires strong leadership and influence skills, exceptional project management expertise, and the ability to lead and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

How you will contribute:

  • Project Planning and Execution:

    • Develop comprehensive project plans outlining scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements.

    • Coordinate with stakeholders to define project deliverables and milestones.

    • Manage project execution, including procurement, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.

    • Monitor progress and performance against established project goals and objectives.

  • Budget Management:

    • Develop and maintain project budgets, ensuring accuracy and adherence to financial constraints.

    • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimize project spending.

    • Track project expenses and provide regular budget reports to stakeholders.

  • Resource Allocation:

    • Allocate resources efficiently to support project requirements.

    • Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors to secure necessary resources.

    • Manage subcontractors and vendors to ensure deliverables are met in accordance with project timelines and quality standards.

  • Risk Management:

    • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions.

    • Proactively address issues and challenges as they arise during the project lifecycle.

    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

  • Stakeholder Communication:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, milestones, and issues.

    • Facilitate effective communication between project team members, contractors, and other relevant parties.

    • Address stakeholder concerns and resolve conflicts in a timely and professional manner.

  • Other

    • Anticipates and resolves conflict situations to ensure win-win outcomes.

    • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends, as required, to oversee project activities.

    • Demonstrates a commitment to continuous improvement of Capital Project Management and PMO business processes.

    • Must be willing to work in construction area/environment wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

What you bring to Takeda:

  • Must be well versed in Project Management tools and must possess knowledge of related disciplines. Must have knowledge of such principles as GMPs, FDA guidelines and purchasing practices. Experience with commissioning and validation concepts, procedures, protocols, and requirements to support GMP are required. Understanding of Critical Systems, facilities, and logistics process and project implementation experience a definite plus

    Must be self-motivated, have good interpersonal skills, capable of analyzing and solving complex problems through innovative thought and experience, as well as project management tools. Ability to manage multiple cross-functional teams simultaneously. Ability to design and implement projects/studies outside area of expertise. Must demonstrate strategic leadership, strong financial acumen, and proficient supervisory skills. Display ability to communicate effectively using a wide variety of skills and vehicles.

Education and experience

  • Typically requires bachelor's degree, preferably in science, engineering or other related technical field. 6+ years of related experience with 1+ years leadership experience

  • PMI certification preferred, but not required.

  • Construction Administration and/or Architectural experience is a plus.

  • Experience in FDA regulated environment preferred.

  • Experience with GDP construction is preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 25 lbs.

  • In general, your work will be a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in the facility.

Important Considerations

At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. You may:

  • Normal office environment.

  • Construction area/environment wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • May travel for business reasons. e.g. training and meetings.

  • Will work in controlled environments requiring special gowning. Will follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body.

  • No make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish or artificial fingernails may be worn in the manufacturing environment.

  • May work in a cold, wet environment.

  • May be around moving equipment and machinery.

  • May work in a confined area.

  • Some clean room and cool/hot storage conditions.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$108,500.00 - $170,500.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives.
