Job Description
About the role:
The Medical Affairs Head Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia&Herzegovina. is responsible for leading a team of professionals in the Medical Affairs department. This role focuses on providing strategic guidance and ensuring regulatory compliance. By managing projects, budgets, and schedules, this role contributes to Takeda's mission of bringing better health to people and a brighter future to the world.
Activities and Responsibilities
Leadership:
Lead local processes to hire new medical personnel
Leverage of strong leadership culture to develop and bind highly qualified employees to the company and to offer stimuli for reaching ambitious objectives
Support on-boarding, training and knowledge transfer together with MCO Medical Affairs (MCO MA) within the medical department providing an upskilling on negotiations and networking
Planning and control of medical department plans and budget
Member of Takeda LOC Leadership Team
Ambassador for Corporate Philosophy and Takeda-ism
Medical/Scientific Affairs
Ensure local medical activities are scientifically sound, within Guidelines/Directives and Takeda Standards / SOPs, within budget and of appropriate quality and aligned with Business strategy and customer and patient needs
Oversee development of local strategic medical plans in line with product Life Cycle Management plans and execution (including the production of local publications, planning and conduct of local Advisory Board meetings etc.)
Liaise with other Department Heads (Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, Quality, Compliance) to ensure common understanding of customer needs and alignment on applied strategy
Establish and maintain –in alignment with MCO and Regional Medical Affairs- strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)
Establish networking including medical, clinical and academic community, authorities, pharma industry, payers and other relevant stakeholders
Establish and develop territory alignment, targeting and segmentation
Provide medical contribution to Tender Business offers and negotiations
Anticipate or identify changes in the marketplace that may provide scientific, medical, regulatory and/or commercial opportunities for Takeda
Provide medical contribution to market access, reimbursement applications and negotiations
Support local Business Development/In-licensing activities with scientific evaluations
Act as media Spokesperson on medical topics
Act as Takeda representative in front of competent authorities for subjects under his/her responsibility
Expanding capabilities in relevant Therapy Areas
Responsible for the timely and competent handling of all scientific/medical Pharmacovigilance, regulatory and Quality Assurance strategies aspects related to all marketed and developing Takeda products in accordance with appropriate international and regional Guidelines/Directives, local law and Takeda standards/SOPs
Responsible for adherence to Global / EUCAN Compliance Standards for the Non-Commercial (Scientific) processes
Develop and oversee execution of medical training of LOC personnel
Guarantee scientific accuracy and adherence to ethical and industry standards regarding medical information, medical staff and sales force training, promotion of products marketed by Takeda in Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina in accordance with Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina Drug Laws and Takeda’s standards / SOPs
Act as communication link between local Departments, MCO and Regional medical functions
Implement the MCO KPIs system for MSLs and operationalize in CRM
Develop HCP mapping and segmentation principles as basis of MSL territory alignment in coordination with commercial excellence where applicable; set standards for local HCP mapping by MSLs
DDT (Data, Digital & Technology) leadership and management:
Drives Omni Channel Engagement (OCE), including all available channels and integration into the customer journey
Monitors application of legal and compliance framework in OCE e.g., GDPR, consent management
Leads application of the engagement technology ecosystem to improve and add value to customer experience in BU (e.g., Brightcove video, approved emails, Takeda ID and Takeda Connect)
Leverages insights (e.g., from CRM, Power BI, CXM, AI) to drive strategy
Medical Information
Oversee a tracking system for all unsolicited medical enquiries and a timely, accurate and balanced answer to unsolicited medical enquiries.

Education, behavioral competencies and skills
Essential:
Medium or Advanced degree in scientific discipline or applicable health sciences field (medical, biotech, pharma, chemistry, biology field)
Experience and proven track record in medical affairs
Deep understanding of EU and local laws, regulations and Industry codes
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with external and internal stakeholders, strong interpersonal skills
Excellent leadership and coaching skills
Excellent organizational skills, ability to negotiate and perform contracting, budget calculation and good attention to detail
Proven conflict management and independent problem-solving skills
Advanced process management skills
Experience of working in a matrix management environment
Drives performance of self and others
Highest ethical standards
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with external and internal stakeholders
Excellent organizational skills
Proven experience in successfully managing several projects at the same time
Desired:
On job experience in pharmaceutical company in last 5 years
Ability to influence at a high level
Clinical trials experience and good understanding of clinical trial data and study design
Experience of working with scientific and clinical experts at all levels in both 1:1 and group settings
Experience in providing clinical data and disease area training to both medical and non-medical colleagues
Other requirements:
Travel across LOC, MCO and other EU countries (for training if needed)
Valid and clean driver’s license
