Job Description

As the Head of Site Engineering & Maintenance at our Lessines Site, you will lead and optimize all engineering and maintenance operations that support our biopharmaceutical manufacturing. You will work closely with site and global engineering leaders, playing a vital role in ensuring the sustainability, safety, and compliance of our facilities.

How you will contribute

  • Lead and manage all site engineering and maintenance activities that support manufacturing at the Lessines Site.
  • Ensure facilities, equipment, utilities, and critical systems are properly maintained, safe, efficient, and compliant with all regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee maintenance operations to guarantee equipment availability for production, including scheduled shutdowns.
  • Provide holistic support to achieve capacity plans and fulfillment targets.
  • Drive organizational agility and respond quickly to operational issues.
  • Allocate resources, prioritize tasks, and advise senior leadership on high-value engineering and maintenance services.
  • Manage site budgets and external contract resources.
  • Maintain strong subject matter expertise and ensure appropriate internal and external resources for system reliability.
  • Deliver compliant, reliable engineered solutions and lead site capital investment projects, including technology transfers.
  • Define, manage, and control site CAPEX and equipment life cycles.

People Leadership

  • Manage performance, development, and engagement of direct reports.
  • Develop and support the Facilities and Engineering team at the Lessines Site.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence.

Strategic Influence

  • Serve as a member of the Lessines Site Leadership Team and the Global Plasma OpU Engineering Leadership Team.
  • Align with site strategy and goals, escalate and address engineering and maintenance issues, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Act as a decision-maker and key partner on cross-functional teams.

What you bring to Takeda

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering; a Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 15+ years of experience in engineering and/or facilities management within biotech or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Proven experience leading and developing engineering and maintenance teams.
  • Strong knowledge of bioprocess engineering, systems, equipment, facilities, and automation.
  • Experience managing budgets, contracts, and capital projects.
  • Ability to allocate resources, plan, and react quickly to site or operational challenges.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Collaborative approach and commitment to a team-based culture.

  • Work around chemicals and biological products, requiring specific personal protective equipment.
