Job Description
About the role:
Join Takeda as Counsel, Plasma-Derived Therapies at the associate director level. In this role, you’ll offer legal support and serve as a business partner by proactively advising and giving legal guidance to Takeda’s Global Plasma-Derived Therapies Business Unit (PDT BU), primarily focusing on the US BioLife Plasma Services (BioLife) organization and PDT Research & Development (R&D). Additionally, the Counsel will apply a proactive, collaborative, and leadership mindset and approach to partnering with internal stakeholders and with external partners to advance the goals of the PDT BU and broader Takeda, through actions based on Patient-Trust-Reputation-Business, in that order. As part of the General Counsel Plasma-Derived Therapies (PDT) team, you will report to Lead Counsel, US BioLife and PDT R&D. This is a hybrid role based in either Cambridge, MA or Bannockburn, IL, based on candidate’s location.
How you will contribute:
Partner with and advise the PDT BU on all matters, with dedicated focus on US BioLife and PDT R&D. Establish competence, demonstrate executive presence, and exercise influence to become not just a legal advisor, but a legal counselor and where necessary, leader on legal issues with business impact.
Provide advice and leadership for legal issues confronted by a highly regulated industry with a large consumer base with employees in almost 40 states, while also exercising enterprise-level thinking, business acumen, and influence to create positive outcomes for Takeda.
Serve as legal advisor on Global Program Teams led by PDT R&D and advise on strategic PDT R&D initiatives.
Evaluate risks and offer strategic guidance and training, both formally and informally, to key internal stakeholders. Ensure alignment with Takeda's values-based mission and compliance with pertinent laws, regulations, and ethics.
Manage disputes and litigation
Implement, and contribute to the implementation of, risk mitigation processes.
Provide contractual support, collaborating with business partners and dedicated contracts attorneys to ensure agility and that strategic priorities are achieved.
Review external and internal communications.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Minimum of 4 years of relevant legal experience, preferably at a reputed law firm.
Life sciences (R&D, regulatory, commercial), litigation, and privacy experience preferred.
Possess high level of commitment to Takeda’s values and strong strategic and proactive acumen, collegiality, emotional intelligence, and communication skills.
Law degree and be admitted to practice and in good standing in at least one jurisdiction.
Independently manage complex issues, simplify abstract problems, and drive global change management, in partnership with other functions.
Embrace a global, values-driven perspective, demonstrate agility in leadership, and foster diversity.
Be proficient in dispute and litigation management and regulatory analysis.
Provide decisive, independent, and pragmatic counsel on risk, incorporating diverse stakeholder input.
Engage effectively with and lead cross-functional teams.
Regularly work onsite and attend relevant meetings in person to optimize engagement and influence with clients and colleagues.
Possess intellectual curiosity and exceptional skills in verbal and written communication, teamwork, presentation, creative problem-solving.
Learn quickly and be highly self-motivated, with an eagerness to gain an in-depth understanding of the complex PDT BU and the larger organization.

Cambridge, MAU.S. Base Salary Range:
$149,100.00 - $234,300.00The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S.based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
