Job Description

Digital Health Solutions equip Takeda research teams with the tools they need to support, identify and implement innovative technologies in the collection of study data.​ The following are few key activities of the group:

Recommend an implementation solution that provides efficient, situation or safety-specific solutions to complicated business needs. Collaborate with the DHS Strategy and Sensing/Measurement teams, in addition to the study execution teams and external stakeholders in the digital solution design.​ Execute the digital clinical development strategy to ensure operational effectiveness. ​​​Provide ongoing support, risk assessments, mitigation and program/study solutions to ensure timely delivery for the study duration​.

The intern will collaborate & work with the Digital Health Sciences – Digital Health Solutions (DHS) team. The intern will have an opportunity to learn and interact with cross functional teams to understand the vision of the PEACE project, which is transforming the way Takeda works in digital and decentralization of clinical trials. Part of this effort will be to conduct a market analysis of industry vendors who supply platforms & their functional components that can be adopted to support business needs for clinical studies.

This position will primarily support the PEACE project. The intern will be responsible for creating and maintaining a comprehensive database of digital and decentralized platform vendors solutions, including their core capabilities, key strengths and evaluating their platform maturity on key functional & technical parameters.

The intern will also work with key project stakeholders to identify patient and site burden parameters as part of the database through a detailed market landscape analysis.

In addition, the intern as assigned will support certain closeout activities of a capabilities assessment study with a vendor. These duties may include supporting data transfer set up, confirmation of transfer agreements, coordinating vendor teams & internal technical groups to ensure a seamless data transfer to Takeda, and analysis of data to synthesize key insights.

The ideal candidate is comfortable and curious to understand the nuances of new digital and decentralized technologies to support business needs in clinical trials. Have a desire to learn about how new digital health technologies work in a multidisciplinary environment, bridging solution engineering/project management/design thinking/human factors/process engineering, should be adopted with a patient and site centric approach to be successful. Occasionally, the intern will also be asked to contribute and assist Digital Health Solution implementation managers with some of the tasks/activities related to the utilization of digital health technologies in current and future clinical trials.

Internship Development Opportunities:

  • The Intern will gain in-depth knowledge of Takeda’s digital & decentralization of clinical trials (DCT) needs, along with skills in analyzing and evaluating DCT vendor platforms and their components. They will develop experience in creating and maintaining comprehensive vendor databases and acquire the ability to review, score, and propose core capabilities and key strengths of DCT vendors. These learnings will equip the intern with practical skills and industry insights valuable for a career in digital health and adoption of digital tools & technologies in clinical trial management.

Job Requirements:

  • This is an hybrid position located in Cambridge, MA, must be available to come onsite 1-2 days per week
  • Available to work full-time (40 hours per week), within the core business hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm, for 10-12 weeks during the summer months.
  • Current Undergraduate, Graduate, PhD student graduating December 2025 or later

Internship Eligibility

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2025 or later
  • The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (June 2nd- August 22nd) or (June 16th - August 29th)
    • The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames
  • Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates
  • Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

U.S. Hourly Wage Range:

$21.00 - $46.00

The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of internship.The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. internship benefits vary by location and may include:

  • Paid sick time

  • Access to on-site fitness center (where available)
