Job Description
The Early Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Control (eCMC) team is part of the Cell Therapy Process Development team, ensuring a smooth transition of drug products from the Discovery team to the Process Development team.
The intern will work closely with the Cell Therapy Early Chemistry Manufacturing & Controls (eCMC) team to support process development in Chimeric Antigen Receptor Gamma delta T (CAR γδ-T) Cell Therapy platform. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in cell culture techniques and process workflows, offering insight into the complexities of cell manufacturing processes. This internship will focus on assessing the effects of cell cryopreservation.
How You Will Contribute:
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of immunology and the Chimeric Antigen Receptor Gamma delta T (CAR γδ-T) cell platform
- Participate in designing and executing experiments focused on cell product development and cryopreservation.
- Perform various cell culture techniques, including aseptic procedures, primary cell culture, cell counting, isolation, transduction, expansion, harvesting, and cryopreservation.
- Conduct cell-based assays, including but not limited to cytotoxicity assays, immunophenotyping, and ELISA.
- Analyze experimental results to draw meaningful conclusions.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments and results.
- Prepare and deliver a final presentation to summarize experiences and project outcomes.

- Acquire an in-depth understanding of CAR gamma delta T (CAR γδ-T) platforms and their current developmental status
- Learn the CAR γδ-T cell manufacturing process, including cryopreservation techniques
- Develop laboratory skills and gain proficiency in process workflows such as aseptic techniques, cell culture, cell counting, cell isolation, transduction, expansion, and harvest.
Job Requirements:
- This position will be Full Onsite and require 4+ days in the Cambridge office per week.
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree
- Previous lab experience in immunology, particularly with primary cell culture and experience with the gamma delta T (γδ-T) cell platform, is preferred.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques, including aseptic methods, cell isolation, counting, and cryopreservation.
- Basic understanding of computer skills including MS Office (PowerPoint, Words, Excel)
- Internet skills including use of e-mails, group messaging and information gathering
- Highly reliable and a strong team player
- Flexible with an attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Internship Eligibility
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
- Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2025 or later
- The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (June 2nd- August 22nd) or (June 16th - August 29th)
- The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames
- Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates
- Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

$21.00 - $46.00
The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of internship.The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. internship benefits vary by location and may include:
