Job Description
OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE
- The Bioanalytical and Biomarker Sciences and Technologies (BST) department at Takeda is seeking a strong scientific and strategic leader to join the group as the BST biomarker development expert and the Head of the team focused on several technology areas including cytometry and genomics to support clinical development of novel therapeutics across the range of disease areas and modalities.
- This is a strategic role that reports to the Head of BST, and responsible for creating and communicating a clear vision and strategy for biomarker development and implementation in support of diverse clinical portfolio.
- The candidate will work closely with the the BST leadership team, BST therapeutic areas leads and key stakeholders across Takeda to support implementation of biomarker strategy and delivery of key assays and data to clinical trials to facilitate decision making across portfolio.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Candidate will provide strategic, technical, and regulatory expertise in the biomarker development relying on a broad experience in all aspects of different technologies supporting biomarker data delivery.
- An important requirement for this position is the ability to identify and leverage cutting-edge technologies and apply fit-for purpose principles in the biomarker development and validation to support decision-making on programs.
- The incumbent will also be a coach to the group. Hi/she will influence and inspire scientists in the organization, work effectively in the matrix environment, and maintain a culture that encourages innovation, scientific rigor, and growth opportunities.
- Success in this role will be evaluated by the ability to build effective partnerships with relevant colleagues within BST and across Takeda, align and deliver on BST deliverables with focus on high-quality and timely delivery of biomarker data for ongoing clinical trials.
DIMENSIONS AND ASPECTS
Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise
- Deep understanding of biomarker development and implementation with 15+ years experience in biotech/pharma environment.
- Outstanding expertise and depth of technologies, such as immunoassays, genomics, cytometry and others, up to date with the scientific advancement
- Ideally, experience within gastrointestinal, immunology, neurology or oncology therapeutic areas, and experience of supporting novel modalities.
Leadership
- The incumbent will serve as a key member of the BST leadership team helping drive strategic and tactical operations and formulating broad, long-ranging goals in support of programmatic goals.

- Scientific driver for research strategy that impacts group internally and outside area of function

- Initiates and leads external interactions and collaborations
- Frequent contact with internal and external personnel at various management levels

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
- PhD degree in a scientific discipline with 15+ years experience , or
- MS with 21+ years experience
- Deep understanding of biomarker development and implementation with 15+ years experience in biotech/pharma environment.
- Outstanding expertise and depth of technologies, such as immunoassays, genomics, cytometry and others, up to date with the scientific advancement
- Ideally, experience within gastrointestinal, immunology, neurology or oncology therapeutic areas, and experience of supporting novel modalities

Boston, MAU.S. Base Salary Range:
205,100.00 - 322,300.00The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S.based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
