This role is ideal for a proactive, analytical professional with a strong ability to influence and communicate across functions—especially in environments where formalized knowledge governance is still taking shape.
As a key contributor to the knowledge governance program, you will work closely with senior knowledge architects and governance leaders to define data policies, models, standards, and best practices. Success in this role will require not only technical acumen, but also the confidence to advocate for governance principles. Your efforts will help ensure that knowledge is consistently defined, high-quality, and well-managed to support operational excellence.
How you will contribute:
Drive knowledge governance initiatives by establishing and enforcing data policies, standards, and best practices.
Define and monitor data quality and integrity metrics.
Ensure integration of data standards across systems.
Develop and maintain data lineage frameworks.
Promote consistent and compliant data practices across the organization.
Accountabilities:
Lead knowledge governance initiatives, including the development and enforcement of data policies and standards.
Design and deliver training programs to promote adoption of knowledge governance practices.
Conduct assessments of data quality and integrity; contribute to improvement strategies and execution plans.
Partner with system owners (DMS, ELN, LIMS, etc.) to implement and maintain data standards across platforms.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data requirements and deliver aligned solutions.
Develop and maintain data models, data flow diagrams, and data lineage documentation.
Maintain up-to-date data documentation, including dictionaries and metadata repositories.
Support the implementation of a data fabric architecture to unify and manage data.
Effectively communicate knowledge governance principles and advocate for adoption across all levels of the organization, addressing resistance and fostering buy-in.
Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues to ensure integrity, consistency, and compliance.
Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to inform data governance practices.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related field is required. A Master’s degree in these fields is preferred for its depth of theoretical and practical knowledge.
At least 5 years (Bachelor’s) or 3 years (Master’s) of substantial experience in data governance and business analytics. Experience should include implementing and enforcing standards and policies, conducting audits, setting and tracking KPIs, and maintaining high standards of data quality, integrity and compliance. Proven ability to communicate complex data concepts clearly and persuasively across technical and non-technical audiences. Experience navigating organizational resistance and driving alignment across diverse stakeholders. Profound knowledge of CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls) is preferred.
Technical Skills:
Solid understanding of data management concepts, including data governance, data architecture and metadata management. Familiarity with SQL, Python, or other scripting languages for data manipulation and automation. Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS) and data integration concepts is a plus. Experience with data modeling, documentation, and workflow visualization tools preferred.
Regulatory Knowledge:
Knowledge of current and upcoming regulatory requirements around data integrity, including comprehensive understanding of ALCOA++ principles and other relevant data protection standards like GDPR and HIPAA. The ability to apply these regulations effectively within Takeda’s data governance practices is crucial for ensuring compliance at all levels.
Leadership Behaviors:
Candidates must demonstrate Takeda's core leadership behaviors—integrity, accountability, collaboration, and innovation. This includes maintaining ethical standards, taking proactive responsibility for data outcomes, effectively collaborating across diverse teams, and continually seeking innovative approaches to enhance data governance.
Communication Skills:
Robust communication skills are necessary for explaining complex concepts and policies across all organizational levels and to external stakeholders. This also includes the ability to mentor teams on knowledge and data governance standards and practices.
