Job Description
Objective / Purpose:
At Takeda, everything we do begins with our commitment to putting patients first. The Director, Technology Business Partner for the Global Chemistry organization holds a leadership role in supporting the R&D digital transformation. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategic technology solutions for medicinal chemistry, analytical chemistry, and compound management, as well as enhancing data quality and supporting drug development, while maintaining Takeda’s core values: Patient, Trust, Reputation, and Business.
This role acts as an advisor to Global Chemistry Leaders, aligning digital tools with business objectives to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency throughout the R&D process.
Accountabilities:
Identify and evaluate emerging technologies that enhance Global Chemistry business processes, and work with software vendors to understand and influence product roadmaps. Communicate technology updates and recommendations to business partners.
Manage stakeholder relationships by driving cross-functional collaboration and communication to ensure successful project and product delivery that aligns with stakeholder expectations.
Build a dynamic 3-5 year technology roadmap supporting Global Chemistry, which is continually reviewed and refined
Provide executive-level governance and oversight for digital initiatives, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and deliver measurable business value.
Promote a culture of transparency, integrity, and continuous improvement in all technology engagements.
Represent Global Chemistry in strategic planning, investment prioritization, and global technology governance forums.
Oversee project budgets, resource allocation, and timelines to ensure all projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and meet quality standards.
Manage the chemistry technology budget for Research Data, Digital & Technology (RDD&T), including budget planning and tracking.
Act as the single point of contact for all Global Chemistry technology needs, including services and support.
Serve as an active member of the Research Data, Digital & Technology Leadership Team.
Education & Competencies (Technical and Behavioral):
Required:
BS or MS degree in Chemistry, Computational Chemistry, or other Chemistry focused discipline.
10+ years experience in a technology organization supporting chemistry business functions, preferably within Biotech or Pharma.
Minimum of 8 years of people leadership experience leading a medium to large organization and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders
Proven track record in delivering enterprise-scale technologies and digital solutions
Deep knowledge of the small molecule drug discovery lifecycle and its supporting technologies, with a commitment to innovation
Strong strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and change leadership skills.
Ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed, global organization and navigate cross-functional decision-making with clarity and integrity.
Experience managing external partners, vendors, and multi-year digital portfolios.
Technical Competencies:
Knowledge of current industry trends and emerging technologies within the R&D Pharmaceutical and Pharmaceutical Sciences sectors.
Knowledge of principles and methods for defining and structuring field-relevant topics, including the ability to adapt research methods to the appropriate domain.
Knowledge of project management principles and methodologies with a proven track record in delivering complex technology projects.
Experience working in an Agile environment

Boston, MAU.S. Base Salary Range:
$174,500.00 - $274,230.00The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S.based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
