About the role:

We are seeking a Data Fabric Architecture & Governance Engineer to support the planning, development and execution of data model and data governance frameworks for Takeda’s Pharmaceutical Sciences organization. This a unique and exciting opportunity for candidates who are curious, eager to learn, and open to working on a variety of tasks related to data architecture, data governance, and data (life-cycle) management within the dynamic realm of pharmaceutical R&D.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with senior data architects and governance experts to help design and implement data models, data structures, frameworks, and establish best practices in an environment where formalized data governance is still evolving. You will play a key role in implementing and operationalizing data governance frameworks, ensuring that data is accessible, of high-quality, and well-managed to improve operational effectiveness.

How you will contribute:

  • Support the design and implementation of a data fabric architecture.

  • Support data governance initiatives.

  • Maintain and update data documentation.

  • Contribute to data quality definition and monitoring.                                 

  • Assist in the design and implementation of a data fabric architecture to ensure seamless data integration and management across the organization.

  • Support data governance initiatives by helping to establish and enforce data policies, standards, and best practices.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and provide solutions that align with business objectives.

  • Participate in data quality assessments and contribute to the development of data quality improvement plans.

  • Help maintain and update data documentation, including data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and data lineage information.

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of data models and data flow diagrams.

  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving data-related issues, ensuring data integrity and consistency.

  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in data architecture and governance.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree in these fields is preferred for its depth of theoretical and practical knowledge.

  • At least 5 years (Bachelor’s) or 3 years (Master’s) of substantial experience in data architecture and data governance. Profound knowledge of CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls) is preferred, and experience should include implementing and enforcing standards and policies, conducting audits, setting and tracking KPIs, and maintaining high standards of data quality, integrity and compliance.

  • Basic understanding of data management concepts, including data architecture, metadata, and data governance. Familiarity with SQL, Python, or other scripting languages for data manipulation and automation. Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS) and data integration concepts is a plus.

  • Knowledge of current and upcoming regulatory requirements around data integrity, including comprehensive understanding of ALCOA++ principles and other relevant data protection standards like GDPR and HIPAA. The ability to apply these regulations effectively within Takeda’s data governance practices is crucial for ensuring compliance at all levels.

  • Candidates must demonstrate Takeda's core leadership behaviors—integrity, accountability, collaboration, and innovation. This includes maintaining ethical standards, taking proactive responsibility for data outcomes, effectively collaborating across diverse teams, and continually seeking innovative approaches to enhance data governance.

  • Robust communication skills are necessary for explaining complex concepts and policies across all organizational levels and to external stakeholders. This also includes the ability to mentor teams on knowledge and data governance standards and practices.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for identifying and addressing issues, developing effective solutions, and implementing changes that enhance data integrity and operational efficiency.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$99,500.00 - $156,420.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
