Job Description

Job Title: Senior Plant Engineer

Location: Thousand Oaks, CA

About the role:

As a Senior Plant Engineer, you will design, cost-effective projects and technologies within important GMP plant systems in the Biopharmaceuticals manufacturing environment. You will focus on systems supporting cleanrooms and controlled environments in a commercially licensed biologics manufacturing facility, such as HVAC, HEPA filtration, and refrigeration. Additionally, this role may oversee/train contractors, requisition/define and initiate engineering projects, and train plant utility operators.

How you will contribute:

  • Support manufacturing operations, maintenance, troubleshooting of equipment and infrastructure improvements of all Life Safety, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC.
  • Provide Technical Ownership/Subject Matter Expertise for related areas and support daily operations of the plant.
  • Review process and support equipment and systems design drawings and documents.
  • Use engineering tools to resolve issues. (FMEA, Process modeling, etc.)
  • Be a Subject Matter Expert for critical utilities on medium and large expense or capital projects.
  • Identify energy optimization projects.
  • Evaluate the existing preventive maintenance scheduling intervals and maintain, update, and improve the operational efficiency of the CMMS system.
  • Investigate and analyze customer service problems and design improvement suggestions.
  • GMP experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Facilities engineering, project coordination and operational experience in the life-science field.
  • Experience with overseeing quality documentation such as Change controls, CAPA, Deviations, in the quality Trackwise system.
  • Technical knowledge of HVAC, Refrigeration, WFI, RO, Chillers, Boilers, BAS systems, UPS, electrical, mechanical, etc.
  • Including financial planning and analysis to manage within budget and time constraints.
  • Proficient knowledge of appropriate design and operations standards.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and train.

What you bring to Takeda:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering required.
  • Electrical engineering background or related experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of related work experience.

Important Considerations

At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. In this role, you may:

  • Combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in the facility.
  • Able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • May work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.
  • Will need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
  • May work in a cold, hot or wet environment.
  • May work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
  • Able to work more than 8 hours a day or 40 hours a workweek as required.
  • May be required to work or be assigned to a different shift/time as needed.
  • May require availability outside regular business hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • May require on call support.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

84,000.00 - 132,000.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S.based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
