Job Description

Job purpose

·Support PVA Lead in implementing local reimbursement strategy to grow Takeda´s business within compliance and legal requirements;

·Develop and implement patient advocacy strategy and activities across country to support improved patient outcomes and enhance Takeda’s trust and reputation;

·Develop and implement local communications strategy;

·Manage internal and external communications;

·Enhance the embedding of patient centeredness across the organization encompassing the business strategy and patient values by partnering with patient advocacy groups on mutual respect and transparency, positioning Takeda as a recognized patient centric company;

·Position Takeda as a recognized patient centric company in all portfolio therapeutic areas;

·Support PVA lead and GM in managing Takeda’s participation in various organizations.

Role description & accountabilities

Patient value and advocacy

  • Support the patient value, access & advocacy strategy development, implementation and adaptation in line with local environment specificities and evolutions;
  • Provide input in the overall country Takeda strategy and play an integral part in the cross-functional launch for supporting existing brands and launch execution strategy;
  • Leads high-level meetings and follow up on actions with customers, media and patient associations to convey value of innovation;
  • Participates at congresses, meetings and trainings based on company requirements and Market Access strategy;
  • Provides support to the marketing strategies of products by understanding the critical importance of cross-border and local market access policies for business success;
  • Enhances the embedding of patient-centeredness across the organization encompassing the business strategy and patient values by partnering with patient advocacy groups on mutual respect and transparency, positioning Takeda as a recognized patient-centric company;
  • Development, implementation, and communication of patient access, value and advocacy strategy to ensure patient-focused product value chain from early drug development improving patient outcomes and enhancing Takeda reputation;
  • Leads and sustains strategic partnerships with patient advocacy organizations addressing patient needs through innovative collaborations that advance patient goals and business objectives;
  • Shapes and creates strategies to internalize the patient’s voice in all working activities;
  • Ensure compliance in all interactions throughout the organization and maintain regular liaison with the Global, Regional and Local compliance function to ensure that all processes and activities comply with internal and external policies;
  • Maintain strong collaborative relationships with MCO/EUCAN Pricing, Value and Access, Patient Advocacy team and internal cross-functional colleagues to prioritize and deliver on patient advocacy functional priorities

External Affairs and Public Relations

  • Delivers agreed strategy and all necessary tactics within the key accounts (National Pricing and Reimbursement Committee, Health Insurance Fund, Ministry of Healthcare, etc.) in order to drive patient access to Takeda’s innovative portfolio;
  • Work with non-physician stakeholders (media, NGO’s, communication agencies), in supporting innovative value and towards engaging Takeda advocates;
  • Act as an ambassador for the Takeda brand, its vision and values that achieves patient focus at all levels of the business. Work with local and MCO agencies to adapt corporate external communication strategy and convey messages;
  • Represent Takeda in ARPharm and other committees and associations allocated by the PVA Lead;
  • Represent the identity of Takeda internally & externally in line with the global positioning and Takeda´s values, mission, and vision
  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies for our company
  • Write content for company website and/or other media;
  • Plan events, seminars and press conferences;
  • Manage media inquiries and arrange interviews, statements, etc.;
  • Participate in development and implementation of local CSR program

Internal Communications

  • Manage internal communications, including generate content for internal communication channels
  • Coordinate external and internal communications flow (memos, newsletters, etc.);

Education, behavioral competencies and skills

Essential:

  • University degree in a related field, such as health/political sciences, law, public policy, economics, business administration or health management with postgraduate studies
  • Local and English mandatory, additional languages advantageous
  • Minimum 4 years in Pharma Industry or Consultancy, Governmental, Patient Umbrella Institutions/Organizations; health care is a plus
  • Proven track record and demonstrated experience in  public affairs, patient advocacy relations & communications

Experience in the following areas:

  • Understanding of the specialty pharma business model and the overall healthcare environment
  • Understanding of key trends in both internal and external environment with an impact on advocacy group engagement
  • Understanding of communications strategies and media mix
  • Understanding of corporate and brand needs, including relevant medical, access and policy-related issues
  • Ability to be an efficient ‘translator’ between the NGO world and the corporate world; bring the patient voice within the organization in a credible and effective manner.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain partnerships with key external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with key internal stakeholders, including commercial, finance, compliance, medical affairs and senior leadership.
  • Strong orientation and proven record of cross-functional alignment and collaboration
  • Demonstrated communication skills including ability to influence others, champion change and be a thought leader
  • Demonstrated innovative thinking and an entrepreneurial mindset; ability to link to strategy; demonstrate empathy
