Key Account Manager – Rare Diseases

The Italian Rare Diseases Business Unit offers several exciting opportunities at a national level:

ROLE OBJECTIVE

Implement Rare Business Unit plan within own territory, consistently with Business Unit objectives, guidelines and in compliance with local regulations. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the commercial execution for Rare Diseases Therapies with a focus on several specialists.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Deeply understand own therapeutic areas, including the strengths and weaknesses of competing products, and gain insights into the characteristics of the field and centers of expertise. (organization and structure centers; main contact, scientific needs, therapeutic orientations, etc.).

  • Schedule own business activities consistently with BU objectives, preparing/scheduling interviews / meetings and recording the relevant information collected in order to improve sales effectiveness.

  • Provide daily/monthly reports to the line manager in relation to the performance of relevant area and the changes taking place and negotiate periodically the action plan to drive BU results.

  • Implement promotional activities for company's products, in terms of projects, events, conferences, etc., within budget constraints.

  • Develop relationship and partnership with Key Opinion Leaders at local and domestic level, in order to ensure adequate representation of the company and acquire relevant product efficacy data and market information.

  • Develop, sustain and grow highly effective working relationships with key medical institutions, medical and academic societies.

  • Identify, develop and foster professional long lasting peer-to-peer relationships with key physicians, key opinion leaders (KOL) and academic centres and ensure ethical and high level exchange of scientific information.

  • Comply with the company Compliance Guidelines, Code of Conduct and Promotional Practices. Adhere to Takeda’s Compliance Policies and Procedures.

  • Serve as a direct liaison to the Rare Diseases team by providing marketplace intelligence/insights that will influence goals achievement patient strategy/resources and services and promotional strategy/resources.

  • Define, in partnership with line manager, plans for accounts that flow logically from analysis to strategy to tactics. Adjusts tactics to needs of accounts. Uses account intelligence to segment and target accounts. Sets clear priorities and stays focused on their delivery. Sets SMART goals/objectives.

SKILLS and CAPABILITIES

Education:

  • Scientific University Degree qualification according to art. 122 of D.Lgs. 219/2006 or being employed as Medical Rep with a date prior to 6 July 2006.

  • Good written and spoken English is mandatory (at least B2).

Experience:

  • Solid experience in promoting pharmaceutical products with high demand of clinical explanation and a proven track of records.

  • Previous experience in Rare Diseases or Plasma Derived Therapies is a plus.  Good knowledge of local KOLs as preferred.

Skills:

  • Concise and effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Great presentation skills underpinned by but not exclusively relying on good PowerPoint skills.

  • Demonstrable thirst for knowledge (technical, clinical, medical, scientific) with an ability to assimilate information quickly, present clinical data clearly and concisely and discuss the statistical and clinical relevance in line with product key messages.

  • Develop specific knowledge of the disease and its clinical management based on International guidelines and/or local protocols (i.e. Italian scientific Societies documents).

  • Ability to plan start and control projects using core project management principles and tools.

  • Highly adaptable and adjusts quickly to change.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of the Italian health care systems.

  • Self-independent working style and motivated by autonomy.

  • Highest ethical standards.

  • Passionate and self-confident.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to drive or fly to attend meetings, audits, and training.

Travel Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel.

  • Valid and clean driver’s license.
