Job Description
Job Title: Regional Institution Lead (RIL – GIB)
Location: India, Chennai, Tamil Nadu
About the role:
The Regional Institution Lead will be a senior leader responsible for driving the strategic expansion and operational excellence of Takeda’s government and institutional reimbursement business within the South and West zones. This role is instrumental in managing state government tenders, pricing strategies, and reimbursement processes. The incumbent will act as a key liaison among internal teams, government bodies, and external stakeholders, ensuring a competitive and compliant tendering process. Additionally, the role involves leading a team of Institutional Account Leads, providing guidance, mentorship, and strategic direction.
How you will contribute:
Key Responsibilities
Tender & Contract Management:
Oversee the annual calendar of state government tenders and contracts.
Collaborate with Institutional Account Leads (IAL) to maintain and update a regional tender visibility tracker.
Ensure error-free tender submissions and efficient bid management.
Troubleshoot issues during the tender process and supply management to ensure timely resolution.
Strategic Sales & Market Expansion:
Develop and implement regional strategies to generate new business leads and enhance market penetration.
Participate in financial modeling and pricing strategy formulation to optimize revenue and profit margins.
Leverage market insights and competitive intelligence to inform strategic planning and tender participation.
Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management:
Build and sustain strong relationships with high-level government officials, tendering authorities, and institutional stakeholders.
Develop influence maps for strategic accounts and cultivate relationships across various organizational levels.
Act as a trusted advisor to internal teams, offering expertise on government tenders, pricing, and reimbursement processes.
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Lead and mentor a team of Institutional Account Leads, ensuring high performance and professional development.
Work closely with cross-functional teams (business development, supply chain, market access, finance, etc.) to drive business objectives.
Ensure effective coordination in managing unique business requirements, such as exceptional approvals for urgent needs.
Operational Excellence:
Monitor and manage outstanding payments and account receivables.
Collaborate with government distributor partners regarding appointments, renewals, and training on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Continuously improve post-tender processes to enhance business outcomes.
Stakeholder Interfaces
External:
Providers, distributors, tendering officials, technical committee members, senior bureaucrats, and state government representatives.Internal:
Franchise heads, National Sales Managers, Business Leads, Tender & Documentation Teams, Marketing/Access Heads, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and Finance Teams.
What you bring to Takeda:
Qualifications & Experience
Experience:
Minimum 15 years in pharmaceutical sales.
At least 5+ years in government institutional business.
A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in leading a team.
Exposure in Vaccines Business (Government Sector) - Added Advantage
Skills & Expertise:
Proven ability to develop strategies for increasing market share in public markets, particularly through state tenders.
Strong business acumen and demonstrated experience in cross-functional relationship building.
In-depth knowledge of the tendering process at both state and institutional levels.
High-impact communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Demonstrated emotional intelligence and influencing capabilities.
Educational Qualification:
Bachelor’s Degree (a relevant advanced degree may be an advantage).

Additional Information
Travel Requirements:
Frequent travel, estimated at around 70% of the time.

Experience with financial modelling and pricing strategy.
Proven track record in managing complex tendering processes and achieving strategic business outcomes.
