About the role:

Join Takeda as an Associate Scientific Director where you will lead a small team of scientists to design preclinical target engagement and pharmacodynamic assays and analysis of biomarkers in various animal/in vitro models. You will also lead the development and implementation of a defined strategy for preclinical biomarker development that will provide data to support goals/strategy of the early clinical development team. As part of the Inflammatory Disease Research team you will report to the Senior Director and Head Celiac Discovery and have a deep knowledge of inflammatory diseases (e.g. IBD), fibrosis and preclinical biomarker development/utility in various disease indications.
How you will contribute:
Leads the development of preclinical biomarker strategy, working closely with preclinical pharmacology, DMPK and clinical translational groups to develop integrated translational plans.
Lead teams in efficient and effective design/validation of well-defined and controlled methods to measure pharmacodynamic (PD), target engagement (TE) and disease specific biomarkers in preclinical models.
Experience in assay technologies including (but not limited to): MSD, ELISA, qPCR, flow cytometry and other technologies used for biomarker development.
Expected to develop (and help direct reports develop) and meet goals/timelines/budgets for project teams.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
BS with 15+ years research experience, or MS with 13+ years research or PhD with 7+ years of experience. Experience in a scientific discipline of cellular & molecular biology, immunology, or equivalent.
Outstanding expertise in autoimmune disease/IBD and biomarker development.
Communicates and collaborates with colleagues and management effectively.
Up-to-date knowledge of in current scientific advancements in new biomarker technologies and competitive landscape of given indications.
Guide the design, optimization, and execution of well-controlled protocols to support biomarkers in preclinical projects with the ability to troubleshoot as needed.
Extensive experience in the analysis and interpretation of data from ligand binding assays, flow cytometry and molecular techniques.
Previous experience in biomarker assay development and validation is required.
Deep understanding of preclinical models of autoimmune disease and/or IBD pathogenesis.

Base Salary Range: $137,200 to $196,000, based on candidate professional experience level. Employees may also be eligible for Short-term and Long-Term Incentive benefits as well. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Charitable Contribution Match, Holidays, Personal Days & Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program and Paid Volunteer Time Off. The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
