Job Title: Manager Digital and Data Science

Location: Lexington, MA

About the role:

Seize the opportunity to become Manager of Digital and Data Science at Takeda, located right in the heart of our Massachusetts biologics manufacturing sites. You will be at the forefront of transformative digital programs. Assume the role of technical system owner for data science and business intelligence platforms, lead CPV program and teams and deliver high-value projects. Leverage big data platforms and promote local data mesh strategies, thereby empowering and enhancing the skillsets of our teams. You will report to Director, Digital & Data Science.

How you will contribute:

  • Lead digital transformation teams and projects.

  • Establish relationships with important partners/data science citizens across the organization to ensure data science programs align with team goals, ROI and successful deployment of data products.

  • Assume technical system ownership of GxP and non-GxP systems such as Statistica, Spotfire.

  • Responsible for Continuous Process Verification (CPV) activities like cross-functional meetings, APQR, YBPR.

  • Data stewardship, ensuring data integrity, visibility and usability

  • Data engineering solutions to automate GxP activities.

  • Improve Takeda digital culture and capabilities, across functions and vertically throughout the organization.

What you bring to Takeda:

  • You will have a BS in mathematics or a scientific discipline with 5+ years of experience, MS with 3+ years or PhD with 2+ years.

  • Collaborate and manage cross-functional teams and present complex systems to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of approaches that lead to successful GxP projects.

  • Ability to find and recruit help in large organizations.

  • Experience with Data analytics, digital dashboards, Statistics, CPV.

  • Programming languages and some experience with entry level programming in several languages (e.g. SQL, R, Python)

  • Experience with prototyping and some knowledge of main principles of AGILE software development

  • Familiarity with information management practices, regulatory requirements, and data privacy laws, especially those that uniquely effect the pharmaceutical industry.

  • GxP software validation, Data governance and stewardship, Data mining, machine learning, and statistical modeling preferred

  • Some experience with Large Language Models (LLM) in Pharmaceutical applications would be ideal

  • Experience with TIBCO Data Science / Statistica / TIBCO Spotfire, Qlik, Tableau, PowerBI, Power Automate, AWS, and Big Data platforms would be ideal.

  • Knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), SOA, APIs, open data, microservices, relational and non-relational data bases systems such as SQL, Redshift, PostgreSQL, or Vertica would be ideal.

Important Considerations

At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. In this role, you may:

  • Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.

  • Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.

  • Work in a cold, wet environment.

  • Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours, as necessary.

  • Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
