About the role

  • The Factory of the Future (FoF) Platform Lead develops a clear vision on how technology, digitalization and automation will disrupt technical manufacturing processes, impact the supply chain and prepare GMSGQ to be fit for the future.

  • The Factory of the Future (FoF) Platform Lead is a key player and support of the GMSGQ Must Win to refine our current API Strategy to reflect updated business requirements from late stage acquisitions, in-licensing and pipeline evolution

  • He/She is part of the core team to create a holistic API strategy including Footprint analysis, capabilities and technology requirements and implementation plan to meet our API requirements across both internal and external network and to create a set of implementation plans at site and potential portfolio opportunities to optimize our API strategy

  • He/She translates the vision into a meaningful integrated roadmap of transformative initiatives and drives projects focused on mapping and scaling lean and stable processes and equipments, digital technologies, capability building, quality and data infrastructure.

  • The individual works closely with OpU/Region executives and senior (business excellence) management to translate gaps and areas of improvement, emerging trends and technologies into a comprehensive Factory of the Future strategy and implementation plan.

  • The Factory of the Future (FoF) Platform Lead is responsible to develop technical blueprints, assess and proof transformative initiatives to demonstrate its viability for the network.

How you will contribute

  • Aligns on scope and objective for the platform with FoF Head (10%)

  • Plans and manages strategic optimizations of manufacturing processes by capability building, harmonizing and standardization of underlying technology across multiple manufacturing processes, and coordinates efforts to define opportunities to scale digitalization and automation use cases (20%)

  • Provides technical leadership to ensure that current and new manufacturing processes are robust, efficient, and meet current quality and regulatory expectations (5%)

  • Coordinates feasibility assessments of blueprints to define/confirm the network strategy of projects deployment and to update rollout plans for portfolios of underlying technologies in alignment with the network strategy and global FoF roadmap (25%)

  • Provides industry best standards (benchmarking) and technical vision for the technical manufacturing process (10%)

  • Develops working relationships with Operating Units/Regions, Network Strategy, and Function leads to identify, evaluate and prioritize opportunities to realize the FoF strategy and the global initiatives (e.g. AVI, sustainability projects, etc.) (5%)

  • Builds and coordinates a temporary team of experienced SMEs to steer design sprints for the development of platform blueprints and value capture roadmaps (10%)

  • Assess project implementation scenarios for the technical manufacturing platform and blueprints, and ensures alignment of various initiatives to avoid conflicts between various initiatives (10%)

  • Build and lead technology Blueprint Advisory Board for blueprint creation, revision and update and performs technology watch (5%).

DIMENSIONS AND ASPECTS

Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise

  • Is current with industry standards and technology of respective processes/platforms and is able to identify emerging trends and technologies, and their potential impact on the functions

  • Is experienced on how to leverage emerging trends and technologies with specific knowledge on automation and digitalization at scale to accelerate transformation; strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Provides hands- on experience in respective aspects of pharma and biopharmaceuticals operations

  • Delivers results to business timelines with limited resources

  • Flexibility and ability to assimilate new knowledge and standards quickly

What you bring to Takeda:

Essential:

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering or Biological Sciences/Pharmacy along with Master’s Degree/MBA or equivalent business experience

  • Minimum 10 years experience in the bio-pharmaceutical or associated industry environment.

  • Demonstrated experience directly managing cross-functional leadership teams at plant with direct and regular interactions across Operations functions: Process development, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain etc.
