Job Description

OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE
  • Act as facilitator and advocate of the Agile methodology, in alignment with a product-centric organization. This role coordinates, supports, and assists all aspects of a product team.

  • Collaborate closelywith and is a primary contact to the product owner, coordinate the development team and align with release management to achieve customer satisfaction.

  • Passionate advocate for the adoption of patterns and practices that streamline the teams use of Jira making the team more effective at communication and reducing out of phase defects

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Providing rigor for all Agile ceremonies, including quality of story production and effective retrospectives while having a constant focus on improving the team.

  • Ensure there is full comprehension by the technical teams of all product stories during scoping and ideation phases.

  • Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised with an emphasis on consistently improving and problem-solving

  • Remove impediments and coach the scrum team on removing impediments

  • Use expert agile knowledge to use skillfully existing tools and practices for software development

  • Help the product and development teams to identify and fill in blanks in the Agile framework

  • Help the scrum team achieve higher levels of scrum maturity

  • Support the product owner and provide education where needed

  • Act as trusted representative for the team in committees, coordinate with colleagues from other teams and are SPOC for the product owner and release manager or other functions from the business

  • Deliver ongoing training for team, product owners, developers and testers to consolidate and support future development of agile methodologies in the organization.

  • Understanding and executing the agile development process as it relates to SDLC

Leadership

  • Lead the scrum team in using Agile methodology and scrum practices

  • Lead the scrum and development teams in self-organization

Decision-making and Autonomy

  • Lead agile ceremonies, including daily scrum, sprint review, planning meetings, retrospectives, team and project kick-offs

  • Support Product Owner on release planning and customer engagement, and take ownership on delivering the product

  • Remove impediments (e.g., cultural barriers, logistic challenges)

Interaction

  • Foster close cooperation across all team members, encouraging cross-training and mutual support

  • Facilitate communication and collaboration inside and outside the team

  • Shield the team from external interference and ensuring the team is fully functional and productive

  • Foster an environment of successful delivery and continuous improvement

Innovation

  • Familiarity with design thinking and customer centric approaches is a plus

Complexity

  • Scrum master for a medium size development team, with both internal and external stakeholders

  • Regional and/or global responsibility

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years of IT experience with Bachelors Degree or 7 years IT experience without Bachelors Degree.

  • Minimum 2 years experience leading small-mid-sized projects and/or agile teams

  • Experience with agile methodology and product management

  • Ability to analyze and think quickly to resolve conflict

  • Ability to work with and lead a team

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and mentoring skills

  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment

  • Proven ability to continually build job knowledge & skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook).

  • Ability to write and speak in the English language

  • Scrum Master Certification

Desired

  • Healthcare and Life Sciences industry experience desired

  • Software engineering experience desired working with moderm web platforms

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Travel Requirements - Ability to fly to meetings regionally and globally.
