Project Outline:
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate to work on the development of a mathematical drug-disease model. The summer intern will join the Cell Therapy Clinical Pharmacology and Modeling team within PTM organization of OTAU.
Within this internship project, the prospective intern will utilize preclinical and clinical datasets digitized from published literature and apply quantitative systems pharmacology (QSP) modeling approach to address relevant clinical and preclinical questions.
As a part of the program, the intern will be part of a scientific team and will be working and collaborating closely with other team members in the group.
For this project, the intern will be conducting comprehensive literature review to understand the disease biology and drug mechanism of action (MOA), and will be performing data analysis, and will be utilizing QSP modeling approach, using preclinical and clinical datasets.
This project will provide an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience to utilize mathematical modeling in drug development in cell therapies.
How you will contribute:
Deadline-driven with a high level of organizational and planning skills
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and oral and written communication skills; he or she also has the ability to work well in teams, effectively manage projects, and present ideas clearly and concisely.
Global mindset to grow in a diverse work environment
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Good knowledge of cancer biology is preferred but not necessary
What you bring to Takeda:
PhD/Masters Candidate in Chemical/ Biomedical Engineering OR Pharmaceutical Science
Minimum GPA 3.0/4.0
Prior experience in mathematical modeling and simulation
Prior experience utilizing R/ Matlab
Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis
Must be available full time (40 hours/week) a minimum of 12 weeks during the Summer months
Return to university for at least one semester post-internship
Takeda does not provide student housing or housing stipends
The hourly pay rate range is $20.00 per hour - $46.00 per hour. The final pay rate offered for this internship may consider several factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
