POSITION: Senior Research Scientist, Cell Engagers
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Takeda Development Center Americas, Inc. is seeking a Senior Research Scientist, Cell Engagers with the following duties: Contribute to discovery projects by independently designing and developing well-defined mechanistic experiments in vitro and ex vivo for projects within oncology cell engager research to identify Mechanisms of Actions (MoA); Lead from the lab to advance novel and differentiated products in collaboration with cell therapy oncology toward clinical milestones, by working collaboratively with internal cross-functional teams and external partners to incorporate new Vδ1 isolation strategies for use in cell engager programs in vitro; Propose novel projects based on internal results, external partners, and published reports and demonstrate leadership through effective communication of study plans/value, and research results; Actively participate with team to isolate and phenotype Vδ1 cells from blood and skin and collaborate with Cell Therapy team to incorporate new Vδ1 isolation strategies for use in cell engager programs in vitro; Use immune cell characterization and function assessment, such as, multi-color flow immunophenotyping, multiplex cytokine measurement, cytotoxicity assay, and other molecular based assays and cell-based functionality assays to use defined practices and theoretical knowledge to perform analysis, interpret results and determine appropriate action; Prepare and present comprehensive technical or project reports and formal presentations and posters to full range of internal/external audiences and contribute to IND report and other regulatory filings; Maintain laboratory notebooks and keep in compliance with Takeda policies; Independently design cytokine fusion strategy to enhance Vδ1 biology for solid tumors; Propose novel projects based on internal/external results and published reports; Help with external collaborations/CROs and establish new protocols. Up to 20% remote work allowed.
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy, Cancer Sciences, or related field plus 5 years of related experience. Prior experience must include: Isolate Gamma-Delta T cells from blood and tissue and research Gamma Delta T cell culture and expansion methodology to improve yield and cytotoxicity; Develop functional and characterization experiments via flow cytometry, spectrometry and chemiluminescence of isolated Vδ1 cells and analyze experimental data and determine the relevance of results based on background knowledge of Vδ1 gamma delta cell biology; Contribute to evaluation of novel immunotherapy products based on Vδ1 gamma delta cell biology; Experience with gene engineering of Vδ1 cells.
Full time. $137,000 - $ 234,800 per year.
